Majborough Dominates Dublin Chase in Stunning Grade 1 Display

Majborough produced a performance of real authority to land the Grade 1 Dublin Chase at Leopardstown Racecourse, powering clear of his rivals in emphatic fashion.

Ridden positively by Mark Walsh, the Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old was allowed to stride on from an early stage, a tactic that proved decisive. Travelling strongly and jumping with fluency throughout, Majborough quickly put his rivals under pressure before stretching clear in the straight to record a commanding 19-length victory.

In behind, last season’s Champion Chase winner Marine Nationale could never land a blow, with the remainder of the field well strung out as Majborough asserted his dominance in testing conditions.

The performance marked a major return to form for the JP McManus-owned gelding, who had encountered setbacks earlier in the season, but looked a completely different proposition here.

Described as an “imperious” display, the victory not only secured a Grade 1 double on the day for connections, but firmly established Majborough as a leading contender for the Champion Chase.

It was a performance that showcased the very best of Majborough and one that positions him firmly at the top table of the two-mile chasing division.
